Offered is an original Studer headblock for the 2-inch / 16-track configuration, suitable for Studer A820 and A827. This is a complete, unmodified head assembly with three Studer head groups (Erase, Record, Replay), mounted on the original aluminum carrier block.
The unit comes from a professional studio environment and has been stored for many years in a dry and dust-protected condition. The headblock shows no mechanical damage, no corrosion and no interventions in mounting or wiring areas. The tape heads are visually in exceptionally good condition: no visible tape wear, no groove formation, no polishing marks. The gap edges are clean and free from damage – visually almost like new. This corresponds to the fact that the seller described it as NOS (New Old Stock – unused). It is very likely that it has actually never been in operation.
Due to the lack of a machine, no electrical function test could be carried out. However, the assembly is mechanically complete, original and unchanged. By design, headblocks are passive assemblies; with undamaged heads and intact wiring, no functional defect is to be expected.

Technical Condition
The unit is complete, unmodified and professionally stored. No visible wear marks on the tape heads, no polishing surfaces, no groove formation. The gap edges are clean, sharp and undamaged – visually almost like unused. Mechanically complete, wiring intact, structure untreated and free from interventions. Due to the passive design of such headblocks, no relevant technical defect is to be expected in this condition. Only the electrolytic capacitors on the rear connector plate may have dried out due to long-term storage. We can offer a replacement at low cost.
The unit originates from a professional studio installation and was stored for more than 25 years in a dry, climate-controlled studio environment. It was stored as like-new and unused (NOS) and shows no technical or mechanical signs of use. There is no wear or polishing visible on the tape heads; the gap edges are clean and completely free of any signs of abrasion – visually almost like unused.
Since no Studer A80 machine is available, no electrical function test could be carried out. By design, headblocks belong to purely passive assemblies: as long as no mechanical damage is visible and the wiring remains complete and intact, there are practically no function-relevant defects. On the rear side, there are approximately 20 electrolytic capacitors; these may dry out due to long-term storage. Preventive replacement can be carried out cost-effectively on request.
