The R84 series
The R84 series ribbon microphones offer the classic sound character of the legendary R44 with extended top-end and reduced proximity effect. This makes them ideal for medium and short-distance shots. Its balanced and well-controlled proximity effect amplifies the low frequencies of vocals, drums and brass from less than a meter away.

The R84A as an active variant offers the same sonic character, but with a German-made toroidal transformer and a JFET impedance buffer with uniform gain, it has over 12 dB of additional power and a consistently low low-Z output impedance. As a result, it can be used with a variety of preamps and enables low noise even with long cable runs.
