About the STUDER 961 mixing console:

The portable mixers of the STUDER 96x series adopted several design features from the flagship 900 series, but the concept is an evolution of the 169 and 269 models. Transmission specifications had become more demanding, and "PCM compatibility" was the buzzword of the time. To prepare for the digital age, it was essential to achieve the highest possible dynamic range. In redesigning the amplifier electronics, modern FET transistors were used as switching elements to improve the signal-to-noise ratio compared to the 169/269 predecessors. Additionally, to prevent hum interference, all insert points were electronically balanced.

A special innovation was the use of new microphone input stages that combined the advantages of transformer-balanced inputs with the excellent technical performance of transformerless designs. Additional units were also improved and expanded. For example, there was now a summing module with a limiter/compressor using advanced PDM (pulse duration modulation) technology.

The STUDER 961 / 962 are portable mixing consoles and include, among other things:

  • Input channels with microphone and line inputs via transformers; optionally with “high-level stereo input modules”
  • Equalizers for high and low frequencies
  • 2 AUX sends
  • Summing module with output limiter
  • Output control section with peak meters or VU meters
  • Extensive accessories available, such as consoles, video editing interfaces, flight cases, etc.
