Offered is an original Studer A80 headblock in the 2-inch / 16-track configuration. This is a complete, unmodified head assembly with three Studer head groups (Erase, Record, Replay), mounted on the original solid aluminum die-cast block.
The unit originates from a professional studio installation and was stored for more than 25 years in a dry, climate-controlled studio environment. It was preserved as like-new and unused (NOS) and shows no technical or mechanical signs of use. There is no wear or polishing on the tape heads; the gap edges are clean and completely free of any signs of abrasion – visually almost like unused.
Since no Studer A80 machine is available, no electrical function test could be carried out. By design, headblocks belong to purely passive assemblies: as long as there is no visible mechanical damage and the wiring remains complete and intact, there are virtually no function-relevant defects. On the rear side, there are approximately 20 electrolytic capacitors, which may dry out due to long-term storage. Preventive replacement can be carried out cost-effectively on request.

Technical Condition
The unit is complete, unmodified and professionally assembled. No missing parts, no cracks, no repair traces. The tape heads are in exceptionally good optical condition – no wear, no polishing marks, with clean gap edges and without visible tape run marks. Due to the passive construction of the headblock, no technical defect is to be expected in this undamaged assembly.
