Siemens AKG C12 vintage transistorized condensor microphone

Weight: 2 kg
This item is currently not on stock.
The AKG C12 vintage tube mic is one of the rarest,  best sounding and most sought after microphones worldwide.

Here comes the rare chance to buy one of the very few transistorized versions of this legendary mic. Other than Neumann who build the U47 as a tube and a fet version, AKG (Siemens) only build the tube version and thus very few of those transistorized mics exist. In a shootout in our studio this microphone blew everybody prettymuch away.

It sounds like nothing else. We even compared it to the tube version of the AKG C12, which we also have in our studio and in blindtests with other listeners, the fet version won due to better noisefloor. Our first idea was to mod the mic and make it an original C12 tube mic. This is pretty easy to do, since the capsule and transformer in the fet version is the same and you can buy NOS 6072 tubes from the 1960´s for less than 100,00€. Only some resistors and small components need to be changed. You can even find these components as nos parts with the original look if you are a geek. However after the listening test and a talk to one of germans most eminent authoritys for vintage microphones, we decided to keep it as it is.

This is a rare item and I bet you won´t find anotherone which is for sale.
