EMT Multioutput Mixing System:
In the mid-1970s, there was a shift in the concept of audio mixing consoles. The traditional setup with separate amplifiers and attenuators was replaced by integrated systems. This solved the problem of level peaks and noise, and it allowed for smaller components. However, it also resulted in a loss of versatility in application. Specialized systems were developed for different purposes such as recording, broadcasting, film sound, and sound reinforcement. To meet individual requirements, EMT developed a modular system that allows units to be assembled according to the buyer's preferences. Each module has a unique identifier for easier planning.
We offer one of these systems here. Today, many of our customers are seeking the analog sound again but hesitate to invest in a large mixing console due to space limitations. For those who only need to record a few signals simultaneously or mix a few pre-mixed groups (stems) in the computer, a STUDER 169, 961, or EMT 10-channel console often suffices. However, it makes sense to have a few extra channels, as those who have started working analog usually want more quickly. A console with 16 channels and under one meter in width is the ideal size for many customers. Therefore, we offer the EMT Multioutput System in two configurations: firstly, as a 16/14/4 mixer (with the corresponding price), and secondly, as a 40/14/4 channel mixing console consisting of two frames.
Special features of the Multioutput Mixer:
Compared to the Studer 269 or Studer 962, the EMT mixing console offers numerous advantages for mixing applications. The audio quality is at least comparable, if not better, and it provides significantly more features. In contrast to the Studer consoles, the EMT mixing console offers four auxiliary output paths instead of two, adjustable direct outs per channel, and 4 audio groups (sums) with 16 channels instead of 14/4 in Studer consoles. Particularly unique among vintage consoles of this size is the ability to combine 14 of the 16 channels via the Multioutput group bus. Therefore, we recommend the EMT mixing console to anyone looking for a mixing console and not just for recording or summing stems.
Condition:
The console is consigned by a customer and sold by us on their behalf. However, we are the contracting party for the buyer, providing them the security of purchasing from a professional dealer and having a contact person in case of any issues. The main frame offered here has been inspected by us, and all identified faults have been resolved. Some electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, many toggle switches have been changed, rotary switches, potentiometers, and faders have been cleaned, among other things. During this refurbishment, we also utilized parts from the auxiliary frame and installed the best 16 channels into the main frame. The condition of the main frame offered is therefore tested and functional, but it has not been fully recapped or restored.
The condition of the optional frame with 24 channels and 22 groups is sold "as is" and offered as a DIY project without full functional guarantee. Some switches may need to be replaced or minor repairs may be required. For an additional cost, we can completely refurbish both the main frame and auxiliary frame with all modules and offer them for sale with a one-year dealer warranty. Please inquire if interested. The price listed here is for the main frame as depicted, with a guarantee of functionality but without further warranty. We understandably only provide warranties for refurbished mixing consoles. The auxiliary frame is explicitly not included in this offer!
