We are offering one of the rare expansion frames for the STUDER 961 and 962 mixing consoles. The extender expands a 961 or 962 console by 20 additional input channels. As shown in the pictures, it is fitted with 10 stereo channels, two of which include a 3-band equalizer. Ideal for additional effect returns, synths, etc. in compact studios with lots of analog equipment. The power supply has been repaired, and the channels have been serviced, recapped and finally tested. To operate the extender, a small circuit board must be installed underneath the frame of the main console. This board is very hard to find, but it is INCLUDED in this offer. We also provide instructions on how to install this board. Anyone who can read and has previously soldered an XLR connector should be able to do this without much technical knowledge. :-)
Condition:
All detected faults have been corrected. The faders run smoothly and the potentiometers also move easily. Visually the console is in average condition – it has been fully serviced.
This STUDER 961 console is currently configured as follows*:
02x stereo with 3-band equalizer
08x stereo without equalizer
Power supply
The interface board required to connect the unit to the main console is included!
About the STUDER 961 mixing console:
The portable mixing consoles of the STUDER 96x series adopted several design features from the flagship 900 series, but the concept represents a further development of the earlier 169 and 269 models. Transmission requirements had increased and “PCM capability” had become the buzzword of the time. To be prepared for the digital world, it was important to achieve the highest possible dynamic range. When the amplifier electronics were redesigned, modern FET transistors were used as switching elements to achieve a better noise performance compared with the earlier 169/269 models. In addition, all insert points were electronically balanced in order to avoid hum interference.
A particular innovation was the use of new microphone input stages that combined the advantages of balanced transformer inputs with the excellent technical specifications of transformerless inputs. The auxiliary units were also improved and expanded. For example, a master section with a limiter/compressor using advanced PDM technology (pulse duration modulation) was now available.
The STUDER 961 / 962 are portable mixing consoles and include, among other things:
- Input channels with microphone and line inputs with transformers, optionally also with a "high-level insert stereo module"
- Equalizers for treble and bass
- 2 AUX sends
- Master module with output limiter
- Metering console with peak program meters or VU meters
- Extensive accessories such as consoles, video editing interfaces, flight cases, etc. are also available
